i was trying to get a picture of my two children together but they didn't really feel like being lovey dovey.  kenna kept pushing greyson away...lovingly of course! ha!

i had to bump up my iso quite a bit which has created some grain but i still like this photo.  but then again, i love all photos of my kiddos! ;)

kenna has gone from taking off her socks (which she is trying to do in this picture) to taking off all her clothes.  i tried to distract her from doing so, but it didn't work.  she was determined and finally got everything off. my son never went through this phase but i'm hoping it doesn't last long!

i had fun playing with the light on this picture.  when the camera said it was correctly exposed, it wasn't.  in order to take this i had to over expose it a lot (according to the meter).  i played around with different apertures and tried lots of different angles. 

i feel like i'm always grabbing my camera at the last minute to try to get my picture in.  i need to do better and be more intentional, but it seems other things take priority. i also haven't been able to comment on many posts that i would like to.  hopefully i can get caught up next weekend!

on saturday we went to the casino with some friends to eat at the buffet.  i had ample opportunity to take a picture but it didn't even cross my mind.  as we were driving home, i realized at 11:43 pm that i had not taken my picture for the day.  i grabbed my camera phone and took the only thing i could see! :)

one of the reasons i love my husband is he can go into our kitchen, look around for a few minutes and find something to make out of whatever we have on hand. he amazes me when he does that cause it's definitely not my thing! he whipped up this pizza out of pita bread, cheese, sausage, tomatoes, green onions and cheese.  it was delicious!

so far we have been lacking in the snow department around my neck of the woods.  i'm soooo ready for a really good snow!  unfortunately, it's supposed to be 58 on wednesday.  then back down to 18 by friday.  just gotta love indiana weather. :/

love my little preschoolers at church.  we learned about how God heals people.  they were making giant bandaids so i decided to whip out the camera phone and snap a shot. even though i'm tired and usually don't feel like teaching on wednesday nights after teaching all day, God sure does bless me by the things these kids say and do!

today we took the kids to concord bounce.  they have been wanting to go outside and needed to burn off some energy but it's been so cold and windy so we thought this would be a great way to do just that.  they both loved it and had fun bouncing around. 

 

it was hard to get pictures that were composed correctly (to my liking) because they were always on the move.  the lighting was also wonky.  these were the best shots i got.  they still capture the fun that they were having, and that's all that really matters, right!?!

each night we read a bible story to greyson before bed.  he has many of them memorized and will say them right along with us.  he picked david and goliath tonight.  i just love hiding God's word and stories in his heart.

i don't know about you, but dishes are the bane of my exsistance. i really hate waking up to a messy kitchen, so i'm trying to force myself to load and unload the dishwasher everyday.  i know, seems like it should be an easy task but after working, playing with the kids, cooking, baths for the kids and picking up the house, it's the last thing i want to do! ugh! i'm sure i'm not the only one!

after church on sundays, we all take naps and then have family time.  tonight the kids wanted to watch madagascar 3 and eat popcorn.  they were oblivious that i was even taking their picture. 

greyson was whining today when i said he couldn't go to his grandma's house, so his "punishment" was to write his name 10 times.  i don't know about you, but whiny kids really bug me.  maybe it's because i'm a teacher and hear it all. the. time.  i (we) may be old fashioned but when we say no, we want our kids to respect that without the extra fuss and begging. :)

i finally took my christmas tree down today.  i had to bring the ladder in to get the ornaments from the top of the tree.  miss kenna had to climb just like her big brother. 

i'm taking a pse class right now and am learning how to better utilize the program to post process my pictures.  i tried one of the things we were taught this week.  i never realized there was so much in turning a picture to black and white.  feedback is welcome!

today i took my big camera to school and shot some pics of my third graders for a bulletin board i'm working on.  however, i didn't think it would be a good idea to put those pictures on the internet so i decided to take a quick one with my camera phone to show you how i spent my friday night after the kids went to bed...

i read an article today on clickinmoms that talked about intentionally taking a picture out of focus.  the author suggested to put the focus on manual and play around with it.  i didn't take it that far, but that post did inspire this picture.  i took this in my bathroom mirror and had it so the background was in focus.  nothing noteworthy here, but fun to play around with nonetheless.

side note:  i typically like to take pictures of people, but i really enjoyed taking pictures of my cup from different angles to see how the light impacted the photograph and how changing the angle really made a huge difference in the pictures.

my husband is a huge ND fan and we were blessed to have season tickets this year, so i knew i had to document ND's big game tonight. we had a few friends over and they brought their projector so we watched the game on the big screen. the outcome was disappointing, but it's still awesome that they made it to the national championship game.  better luck next year!

well today was a busy day shopping at ikea (squeal) and i just got around to picking up my camera.  i decided to play with depth of field (which i love). i choose this one as my favorite because mary and Jesus are also "framed" between joseph and one of the shepherds.

i love christmas and the decorations that go with it.  i keep my tree up for quite awhile after christmas.  today i thought i'd take some time to play around with bokeh.  little did i know, i'd find all the dust on the ornaments.  yikes! that almost makes me want to take it down! ;)

well today is day three and i must admit it was harder to pick up my camera today.  we didn't do anything special and nothing jumped out at me that said, "photograph me".  while making dinner, i grabbed my son and asked him to lay on our wood floor so i could get some shots in.  he complied without much fuss. :)

today i was taking pictures of my darling daughter kenna.  she was playing in her room and i was just observing, trying to stay out of her way.  all of a sudden, she went and picked up her bunny and started loving on it. i got some great shots of her real smile.

i've been tossing around the idea of doing a project 365 for years now but have never committed to it. i've decided to take the challenge in 2013 but i'm making this as low pressure as possible. i know there will be days that i miss and i'm okay with that (hopefully not many)! i'm hoping this will help me to learn the ins and outs of my new camera and help me focus on the every day moments with my family and friends. life is short and i don't want to remember it just for the big things, but the every day things.

 

so here is my first image of the year! today we played outside in the snow and enjoyed some hot chocolate when we came in.  love my boy!
