scavenger hunt sunday

sundays are wonderful.  i love spending time with my family and going to church. i also love that i get to play with my camera.  i recently got photoshop elements 10 (i've never had an editing program before...i've just used a free online service).  however, i want to step it up a little with this hobby of mine.  i've been busy watching tutorial after tutorial trying to learn the software.  i apologize if my photos look over processed.  you know, when you learn something, you often go overboard...:)  hopefully i'll get it figured out sooner rather than later. 

here are my interpretations from this week's scavenger hunt.  as always, thanks ashley for this challenge (i'm super impressed with her...she has left a comment every week i've participated.  i never expected that!)

1. love

my husband surprised me this week with flowers, candy, and this teddy bear at work.  what a sweetie!

2. duplicated 

these are the same flowers...duplicated in this picture. :)  i love that he got me a variety of colors. way to go hunny, really!

3. trending

i really hope i'm not breaking the rules, but i do not have a photo for this one.  i have resisted joining the twitter world, so i have no clue what is trending according to twitter.  i don't know how everyone keeps up with everything. between my two blogs, facebook, and pinterest, i just don't want to add one more thing. 

4. paper

i've been on a reading kick lately.  especially books that can help me be a better person.  in december i started working out and watching what i've been eating.  this book is a wonderful resource and has equipped me with scripture and the drive to be healthy. 

5. plastic  

i have a love/hate relationship with these plastic magnets.  they are on my fridge.  i love them when they entertain my kids while i'm trying to cook. i  hate them when they are scattered all over the floor. :)

scavenger hunt sunday

i was really hoping to participate in this challenge every week but it has been difficult for me to find the time to pick up my camera.  you would think i'd make it more of a priority since it's one of my favorite things to do.  however, so is playing with my kiddos. anyway, here are my shots from the week.

1. facial features

this is a picture from my achieves because my darling children would not cooperate today.  miss kenna has started walking and won't stop for a second.  yes, she is ten and a half months old.  i'm not sure i'm ready for a walker!



2. shadow

the sun actually came out today.  it was just what i needed. i happened to notice this shadow on my wall and thought it would be perfect! it was a glass vase and i love the lines and texture it gives the picture. 

3.  spicy




we got this spice rack for our wedding almost seven years ago.  the original spices are still there...i'm thinking i need to throw out and restock!

4. gold

i had to search high and low to find gold in my house.  i'm not a fan of gold.  i don't own any gold jewelry and it isn't in any of my decorations.  finally i stumbled across a hall tree that my dad made. it has gold hooks. score!

5. fabric



love this pillow that is on my bed.  it's vibrant and makes me smile.  i happen to be a fan of all things ruffle. :)

1. smile

meet greyson. he's a hoot. 

 2. stand alone

i had trouble with this one.  i guess john deere stands alone in the farming industry.  or in my son's toybox! :)

 3.  something old

i throw everything out that is old or that we don't use on a regular basis.  so i had a hard time finding something that was old.  however, this is my husband's computer from college (yes, he's been out for more than 10 years).  it's definitely old...it still has a floppy disk drive!

4. artificial. 

this is grass.  artificial grass.  happens to be decoration in my living room. 

 5.  repeating pattern. 

patterns are everywhere. i couldn't find too many though where the natural light was pouring in.  these are the knobs on my son's dresser.

scavenger hunt sunday

one reason i started a new blog was because i hope to participate in many challenges and link ups and i didn't want to bombard my family blog with all things photography.  so without further ado, i'm participating in my very first scavenger hunt sunday.  :)

side note: the blog will be fully functioning (layout wise) soon...i didn't want to miss out on this link-up and i'm not sure if i'll have it the way i want it for awhile. 

1. stacked up

 i didn't have to look to far to find something that stacked! with two little ones in the home, i knew their toy chest would be a great place to start. 

2. winter wonderland

so, you will need to turn your head sideways to see this as intended. i can't for the life of me get it to upload correctly.  it's vertical on my computer.  anyway, i live in northern indiana and we usually do get a decent amount of snow.  this winter has been the exception.  here we have just a coating.  not as beautiful as a winter wonderland but it will have to do!

3. sweet

i rarely go a day with out flavored iced coffee and creamer. sweet cream is amazing...truly natural bliss. 



4. hole

naturally, an iced coffee drinker must have her cup with straw.  here's the first hole that came to my mind.  it satisfies this gal every morning. :)

5. frozen

 i was lucky enough to find that our bird bath was still frozen after our last snow.  it's currently 9 degrees but tomorrow it's supposed to warm up to 38. good thing i snapped this today!
